Purifying water is a simple operation. Both MMS (Sodium Chlorite alone) and MMS1 (Chlorine Dioxide solution freshly made up) are good water purifiers. We shall deal with MMS1 here. The amount of MMS1 to use will depend upon the source and how dirty the water is. The table below gives a good rule of thumb:
Water source and quality | Number of drops of MMS1 for every 4 litres of water |

Rainwater or stored potable water | 1 drop per 4 litres of water |
Clean river water | 3 drops per 4 litres of water |
Questionable river water | 8 drops per 4 litres of water |
Murky dirty water | 12 drops per 4 litres of water |
